MI Academy: Motivational Interviewing for Peer Professionals
MI Academy is a four-week virtual training designed for peer navigators, promotoras de salud, and community health workers who support clients in behavioral health and healthcare settings. Participants meet once per week for an interactive, one-hour class focused on the foundations of Motivational Interviewing (MI) — a collaborative, person-centered communication style that helps people explore and strengthen their motivation for change.
Between sessions, participants complete brief homework and weekly quizzes to practice core MI skills such as reflective listening, evoking change talk, and navigating ambivalence.
This training is ideal for peers who want to deepen their communication skills, enhance client engagement, and promote meaningful health behavior change within their communities.
