Colorado Public Health Works – Trauma-Informed Care Workshop Series (2025)
Dr. Rebecca Richey, PsD, served as lead facilitator for the Colorado Public Health Works Trauma-Informed Care Workshop Series, developed and delivered by Integrated Family Wellness Training & Consulting (IFWTC) in partnership with Trailhead Institute. The three-part series introduced AmeriCorps apprentices to the principles of trauma-informed care and secondary trauma prevention—essential tools for resilience and effectiveness in community health roles.
Under Dr. Richey’s leadership, the workshops earned exceptionally positive evaluations. Participants reported increased confidence across all six core competencies of trauma-informed care, with the greatest growth in self-care and creating safe, trusting environments. Qualitative feedback praised her engaging instruction and the practical relevance of the material. The project demonstrated IFWTC’s capacity to translate evidence-based practices into meaningful workforce development experiences that sustain both professional competence and personal well-being.
